The Foundation received three Bear Grant requests in February. We were a little concerned that this might be the year we didn’t receive any requests. But the Bears came through!
The Auto Shop classes were granted a total of $2,115.00 for two projects happening this spring. Fourteen Shop students will be going to Columbia College April 11, and 12th to take the 2-day welding test. Those who pass the exams will receive their welding certificates. The grant will enable them to take this special testing locally, provide transportation and food for the students in this 2-day event.
All twenty-one students in Auto Shop are competing in their classes in an incentive/reward program and will receive awards at the close of the school year. This grant was $1,100 to provide awards for every student.
The baseball field is going through a huge improvement to regrade and refence the outfield, which will provide additional space for the discus range area and some additional parking for baseball fans. The grant provided the last $2,500 towards the project total of $8,609.
During the year, the Foundation often receives endowment funds, donations with a specified request attached, to the use of those funds. Anyone can donate endowment funds at any time during the year. There are no fees charged.
Soroptimist International of Twain Harte donated $2000 toward the ACADEC TEAM to go to the state competition, in addition to that a private person who gave $1,000 toward the same goal. The Foundation approved a grant request for $1,560 to provide the last amount needed so that the team could attend the competition in Santa Clara in April. This year’s team is after the state-wide top prize this year!
