The Foundation has moved ahead with funding for Bear Grants this year in spite of all that is happening in the wider world. We are delighted to be able to keep this part of our mission going for teachers, staff and students at SHS. Students
are still learning and that’s what we are all about!!
A Bear Grant of $2,250 was granted in August of 2020 to provide leadership training for students with the ENVOLVE Program. The program provides in- person activities and on-line programs to encourage and develop leadership
skills for all students.
A Bear Grant of $1137.00 was approved to purchase a 40’ flag pole for the new turn-around project that will feature two life-sized cement bears in front of the library and Senior Hill. The area will be landscaped and lighted. Most of the work
will be done with the school maintenance crew, volunteers, and student helpers. The whole project was developed by the Senior Class of 2020.
$2000 was awarded for improvements to the Softball and Baseball dugout areas on campus. The work will be completed in the spring of 2021.
$500 was given to the ever-successful Character Counts program that has been used on campus for more than eight years. The program assists with development of good decision making, strong core values, planning, time management, and kindness towards others, and has a very positive effect on discipline school-wide.
