My name is Taylor Gold and I attended Summerville High School from 2007 to 2011. I am a 3rd generation graduate of Summerville and honored to be selected into the Hall of Fame. What makes this honor even more special is that I get to join my father, Larry Gold Class of 1981, who was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2021.My parents were my biggest supporters and my dad seemed to be by my side during every sporting event that I competed in during my high school career. I grew up in Twain Harte and both my parents were teachers at Twain Harte Elementary. My dad coached several different sports at Summerville High for over 20 years. Some of my earliest childhood memories were spent on the sidelines of Bears football games. From the age of 4 years old, until I played my last football game as a Bear, I spent every Friday Night, during football season, on the sidelines attending Summerville football games.
During my 4 years at Summerville I participated in Football, Basketball and Baseball. I was lucky to be surrounded by talented athletes, experienced coaches, and the most supportive family. On the field I was a 3-year varsity starter at Safety and Running Back who was selected to the 1st Team All MLL Defense my junior and senior year. I was lucky enough to be a part of the 09’ Bears Football team who brought a Mother Lode League Title back to Tuolumne. On the baseball diamond, I was a 4-year varsity starter, 3 Time 1st Team All Mother Lode League as an infielder. My senior season ended with a 13-
2 record which crowned us with a Mother Lode League Title and a shot at the Division V Section Championship. I was named the Most Valuable Player of the Mother Lode League during the 2011 season. As I reflect on these successful moments that I was able to achieve while competing at Summerville, I must thank all my coaches, teammates, and teachers for challenging me to be the best student, athlete, and man that I could be. I will be forever grateful for the opportunities that were given to me. Hard work and leadership are two of the many important qualities that I was able to learn during my time on the Summerville campus.
After graduating from college, I returned home to Tuolumne County, where I began my first career and met my wife, Ashley Gold. I spent 5 years as a Physical Education Teacher and Athletic Director. In addition, I followed my fathers’ footsteps and began coaching at Summerville. I spent 4 years on the football staff and 1 year coaching varsity baseball. For the past two and half years I have been working for Boyer Construction as a Project Superintendent. Ashley and I welcomed our son, Jackson Gene Gold, in October of 2022. I cannot thank my family enough for the love and support they continue to show me every day!
